Terrell High School Students and Parents,

I would like to welcome you and your student(s) to what is poised to be another great year at Terrell High School. Your student(s) will walk the hallways of Terrell High School proudly where he/she will feel welcomed and know that the expectation is for student achievement to increase in all areas. Your student is our top priority because I know you have entrusted the high school staff with your most valuable possession.  Our staff will work hard to make sure students feel safe, comfortable, and work in a clean facility in order to progress throughout the academic school year.  I challenge your student(s) to be involved in our dual credit program, athletic competition, UIL academic competition, clubs and organizations on campus and many other offerings that our high school provides.  Statistics show students to perform at a higher percentage when involved in extracurricular activities as compared to their peers that are not.  Parents are always welcome to the campus to see the great things taking place in Terrell High School.

Our teachers have been through great professional development this summer, which prepares them for a great academic school year.  Teachers agreed that they would like for parents to come and see what takes place in the classroom setting.  We welcome our parents to the first ever Parent Night where parents will learn what their students are working on during the semester.  This event will also allow parents to have an insight into what the students are expected to output for their grades.  Dates and times will be published soon on our website and social media.

Our school board, central office administrators, teachers, custodial and maintenance department worked diligently in giving the high school an in-depth renovation last summer and the investment was worth every penny.  We received four Golden Stars for ACADEMIC DISTINCTIONS this school year (English Language Arts, Science, Top 25% student progress, and Top 25% closing performance gaps).  Our extracurricular events also had many distinguishable awards. This is only the beginning of what is to be another great school year for our students. Increasing student achievement in all areas is the main academic/extracurricular goal and we are driven to take the term to new heights at Terrell High School.  Mediocrity is out the window, and getting better day-by-day is the new wave of attitude.  Last year we focused on creating a mindset of excellence, therefore, we are continuously building this year as we are “Establishing a Mindset of Excellence”.  I am excited and honored to be able to serve your student in my second term as principal of Terrell High School.  I am a servant leader at heart, but I also hold every person on campus accountable.  In order to have continued success, our staff, students, parents, and community members must have a positive relationship and support one another in our endeavors.  If you have a question, concern, or you want to share a great story that happened in the community or school with a staff member or student, please feel free to email or call me. We are TERRELL PROUD and TIGER STRONG!

About Terrell High School

Mr. Jay Thompson

THS Principal

Dear THS Tiger Family,

It is with great pride that I write this greeting for Terrell High School.  Students - you are in the home stretch of your educational journey in TISD and these last years will be years of constant change. Your lives are in flux; career paths will be chosen and changed; friendships will be solidified and forgotten; your understanding of the world will be shaped and re-shaped in your mind.  The questions I have for you are: Will you take advantage of your high school experience and learn from everything and everyone while you are here? Will you make this an opportunity to change the world that surrounds you? Will you bring about the change you would like to see for your family, your friends, strangers you may never know, yourself?  What will be your role to realize your vision for the future? Will you lead, follow, create, explore, build, feed, grow, share…, will you serve? Your future is bound only by your imagination and determination.

High school is the safest place for you to explore, to make mistakes and to develop YOU!  I implore you to ask questions and reach out for the answers you seek. This is your journey. Your journey is unique to you alone. Allow your THS teachers, counselors, administrators and staff to walk alongside you and help navigate the first few steps.

The THS family is fortunate to have the accessibility of many great programs at Terrell High. Through partnerships with community members and businesses, support of parents and leadership of highly qualified instructional staff, our Career and Technical Education programs, academic endorsements and distinctions are second to none, making a Terrell Tiger’s future limitless.

I believe the partnership between family, community and school must be unwavering as we support tomorrow’s leaders today. I look forward to having the opportunity to walk with our students on their academic journey at THS.

Terrell Proud and Tiger Strong,

Jay Thompson, Principal
