About WES

Greeting WES Parents,

First and foremost, I would like to formally take the opportunity to introduce myself. I am Aleix G. Santiago, and I am honored to be the new principal at Dr. Bruce Wood Elementary School. I am excited to be given the opportunity to lead such an amazing school and school community. I have heard nothing but positive things about the students, teachers, and parents. In my first couple of days on the job, I have met several teachers, office staff, support staff, and PTO members who have all been welcoming and have made me feel like I am already part of the WES Family.

I come to you with 21 years of experience as an educator in urban settings at the elementary and middle school levels. Over the course of my journey, I have worked as a teacher, athletic coach, teacher mentor, academic coach, and most recently as an assistant principal in turnaround campuses.  I wholeheartedly believe that great schools are the result of great teachers that establish strong relationships with their students and their families. My primary goal is to continue to support the teachers of Wood Elementary School, to provide them with the tools they need to continue to be successful and to help your children grow and prosper.

I am eager to get to know the students, families, and the community as we begin our commitment to educational excellence. As we begin this journey together, we will focus on: establishing a strong staff and student culture, ensuring high-quality instruction provided in every classroom, and student socio-emotional and academic growth.

I am thrilled about this school year and look forward to working with all stakeholders to ensure that the students of WES have a school year filled with quality instruction and fun. Please get involved with our school PTO to guarantee that your voices are heard and know that my door is always open.

Sincerely,
Aleix G. Santiago, Principal
