Student Transfers

Terrell ISD provides families with student transfer options through a board-approved transfer application process. Below you will find information regarding in-district and out-of-district transfer guidelines along with a link to the transfer application.

IN-DISTRICT TRANSFERS

Terrell ISD follows the neighborhood school concept which means that students attend the school in their home attendance zone. As the District continues to grow, there is less availability of space at campuses to allow for student transfers outside their home attendance zones. For this reason, requests for in-district transfers will generally be denied unless extenuating circumstances such as a documented compelling hardship exists.

PLEASE NOTE: Applications may be submitted for review throughout the year if the student has a change of residence within the district and would like to remain at their current campus until the end of the school year. Proof of residency is required.

Current Terrell ISD students who have never applied for an in-district transfer and who wish to do so for the 2024-2025 school year, must apply by Thursday, May 24, 2024 AND have completed all online enrollment requirements in Parent Portal. Please Note: This is a two-step process. Simply submitting the application, but not updating enrollment information in Parent Portal will negate your child's in-district transfer application. No in-district transfer applications will be accepted after Thursday, May 24, 2024.

Current Terrell ISD students who applied for and received an in-district transfer during the 2023-2024 school year DO NOT have to resubmit an in-district transfer application. However, parents must update their child's enrollment information in Parent Portal by Thursday, May 24, 2024 to secure their child's seat. If you do not update your child's information in Parent Portal by Thursday, May 24, 2024 your child may not be guaranteed to remain at their current campus.
