Communications & Marketing

The Terrell ISD Communications and Marketing Department is committed to honest, transparent, and consistent communication with our stakeholders. We seek to build and foster strong relationships with our families, staff, and community members. 

MEDIA RELATIONS


The Communications Department is responsible for all media requests. During the school year, the department writes and distributes a monthly e-newsletter to school district employees, parents, media representatives, school board members, and members of the e-news group. All media inquiries should be directed to Olivia Rice, TISD Director of Communications and Marketing.




COMMUNITY RELATIONS


Terrell ISD posts all relevant newcomer information on the web site, www.terrellisd.org. For a campus tour, please contact Olivia Rice, TISD Director of Communications and Marketing.




EMPLOYEE RELATIONS


The Communications Department honors employees every spring at the annual Employee Service Recognition and Professional Achievement program. This special program recognizes employees celebrating 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25+ years of service in TISD, retiring employees, Teachers of the Year from each campus, and professional achievement recipients.




SCHOOL CLOSINGS


The district may close schools for a full day or part of a day because of bad weather or emergency conditions. Emergency notifications will be made via phone and email using Messenger. Messenger uses contact information from Infinite Campus student data records and includes email addresses and all phone numbers included as parent/guardian contact preferences. No registration is required. TISD will also make every attempt possible to release information through the following outlets:

The Terrell ISD website, Facebook page, Twitter account, and YouTube channel are maintained by the Communications Department. All content is reviewed before posting.




FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUESTS

Catherine St. Terrell, TX 75160 OR emailed to info@terrellisd.org Freedom of Information Requests, sometimes called Open Records requests, are handled by the Director of Communications and Marketing on behalf of the Superintendent. One exception involves student records. Requests for student records by that student's parent or guardian may be handled directly by the principal at the school campus. Board policy permits the principal to provide one copy of the student's educational record for the parent or guardian free of charge. Any additional copies require copy charges as per Board Policy GBA. Requests for Special Education records may be submitted to the Special Services Department. If any part of a written request for student records includes information that might be deemed private under state or federal law, the written request will be forwarded to the Superintendent's Office and ultimately to the Attorney General's Office for processing. ​Terrell ISD works to meet information requests in compliance with state and federal laws. To the extent possible, requests are handled in the order they are received. By law, Terrell ISD has 10 business days to determine whether or not to seek an Attorney General's ruling regarding information that may be exempted from public disclosure.




REQUEST FOR DISTRIBUTION


The Terrell Independent School District looks to promote a positive relationship between District schools and the community in order to enhance student success, as well as community support and involvement in the schools. E-FLYERS The District has replaced paper flyers with an electronic flyer program. As part of our efforts to be more environmentally friendly and to embrace innovative technology, flyers from community-based, non-profit organizations that could potentially provide benefits or resources to our students, families and/or staff are regularly reviewed for approval. Approved electronic flyers will be included in the District's electronic newsletters and posted on the District website. REQUIREMENTS FOR APPROVAL The Terrell Independent School District will consider all requests for publicizing an event, service, or opportunity to Terrell ISD School District students and their families and/or to District Staff. Flyers that are approved for distribution must meet the following criteria:

  • The flyer must support the basic educational mission of the district, directly benefit the students or staff, or be of intrinsic value to the students, parents/guardians, or staff.
  • The flyer must promote activities or events that occur within our District boundaries.
  • The flyer must contain the following disclaimer: "This non-school activity/publication is not sponsored or endorsed by the Terrell Independent School District." The text of the disclaimer must appear in underlined, bold-faced type of at least 12-point font placed at the bottom of each document to be distributed.
  • The flyer must be submitted in PDF format.
Note: The Terrell Independent School District reserves the right to deny the approval of any flyer, which in the opinion of the District does not meet the criteria listed. The District reserves the right to use discretion to deny any flyer that may not support the goals or mission of the Terrell Independent School District.   1. Read the requirements to make sure that your flyer follows the requirements.
  2. Confirm that your flyer has the District-required disclaimer.
  3. Email your flier with a description to Olivia Rice.

In an effort to maintain consistency throughout the District, it is important that we maintain a strong brand identity. All Terrell ISD logos are trademarked and are only to be used within our District approved guidelines. Please see our Logo Brand Book and logo files below.
