The baton of leadership was passed from Dr. Tracie Pritchett to Aleix Santiago at the Dr. Bruce Wood Elementary staff meeting on Friday, May 27, 2022. Dr. Pritchett, who has served as the Principal for Dr. Bruce Wood Elementary since 2017 will transition into the role of Director of GLA/Coordinator of Advanced Academics K-8 in the 2022-2023 school year.

“As we work to continue growing our advanced academic programing and provide more choice opportunities for families in Terrell, we are excited that Dr. Pritchett has stepped up to take on this new leadership role,” said Dr. Georgeanne Warnock, Superintendent of Schools.

“The teachers, staff, and parents of Dr. Bruce Wood have made my five years at this campus so special,” said Pritchett. “It is because of them it makes it difficult to leave, but I know they will all be in excellent hands. It puts a smile on my face knowing all the great things that are yet to come in Terrell ISD.”

Stepping into the principalship at Dr. Bruce Wood Elementary is Mr.  Aleix Santiago. Santiago, who has been recommended for hire to the Board of Trustees, looks to join Terrell ISD from Richardson ISD where he has served as an Assistant Principal for the last four years. Santiago holds a Master of Education from Southern Methodist University and has spent 19 years in education as a teacher and assistant principal in Richardson ISD and Dallas ISD.

“I am excited about the opportunity to come alongside the Wood Elementary staff and be a part of the great growth and transformation in Terrell ISD,” said Santiago.

Santiago continued in his address to the staff that his desire is for Dr. Bruce Wood Elementary to be a premiere campus in the district and to be a hub for the community.

“I want to continue to build a family community. I lead from the heart, I am eager to learn more about Terrell, and I want our families to know that they can talk to me just like they would any member of their own family.”

Santiago shared that he was born and raised in Puerto Rico and is a native Spanish speaker. He has a wife and two children and he enjoys adventure, traveling, exercising, and dressing up for spirit days.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Santiago to the Terrell ISD team,” said Warnock. “Mr. Santiago has wonderful energy and a powerful vision to continue to great work happening at Dr. Bruce Wood Elementary.”

Congratulations to both Dr. Pritchett and Mr. Santiago on these exciting new roles.
