On Monday, December 11, the Terrell ISD Board of Trustees appointed Kenneth Baker as the new Trustee for Place 2. Baker was officially sworn in on Monday, December 18 by Mayor Rick Caromona and immediately began his duties as a Trustee. Baker replaces Reg Pegram, who announced his resignation earlier this year. This past fall, the Board of Trustees accepted letters of interest for the open seat and candidates were interviewed and considered for the position.
Trustee Baker graduated from Terrell High School in 1985. After high school, Baker attended Eastfield College where he earned an Associate of Arts Degree. He then transferred to the University of Texas at Dallas where he received his Bachelor in Human Resource Management. For 23 years he worked as a corporate salesman for Lonestar Overnight and the Kellogg Company before making the decision to pursue his passion as a mental health counselor, spiritual advisor and pastor. Today, Baker is the Spiritual Director for Alinea Family Hospice Care and is a member of their Ethics Board. Baker also serves as the senior pastor at God’s Promises Family Church. An active member of the Terrell community, Baker is a member of the Breezy Hill Park Association and serves as the Vice-President of the Cross County Ministers Coalition. He has previously served as the chaplain for the Renaissance Club. Mr. Baker and his wife, Kim, have four children, all of whom attended and graduated from Terrell ISD.
