Theatre

Terrell Independent School District has long had a reputation for quality Theater Arts Programs. We are dedicated to providing a variety of programming that will challenge, improve, and strengthen what the child learns in the Theater classroom. The school district provides opportunities for children in middle school.

At Terrell High School, theater students can choose to specialize in acting or technical theater:

Acting Program

Explore methods of artistic expression, the personnel and organization of the theater, and the structure of the written play script. Build on your speaking, writing, and reading skills through performance and production. Study acting, directing, and play analysis.

High School Students begin by exploring methods of artistic expression, the personnel and organization of the theater, and the structure of the written play-script. Through performance and production, students build on their speaking, writing, and reading skills. As they progress through the program, students will build knowledge in costumes and makeup. Students will have frequent performing opportunities, and build skill sets to use in multiple formats. From here, the young thespians can go on to study acting, directing, and play analysis.

Technical Theater Program

Discover the backstage world of the theater. Learn about stage terminology, lighting, sound, and set building. Students in this program will work district events and shows and may have the opportunity to work on some of the national tours that come into our district. From this foundation of knowledge, you can go further to study set design and construction, costuming and makeup, and lighting and sound.
